In common English parlance, the term Asian is often used to indicate people from the eastern parts of Asia. It typically includes the following countries:
- East Asia: China, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Mongolia,
- Southeast Asia Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Myanmar, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam.
- South Asia: India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Maldives, Nepal, Burma.
